Hello everyone,

Have been reflecting on the wonderful experience I had sharing the Petrea King workshop with the support group leaders of the Far and Mid North Coast. I was really moved by the leaders ability to share their experiences and wondered if any one else has come away with thoughts they want to share about their expereience.

It would be great if we could start by sharing our thoughts in this space and in doing so, start supporting each other in our roles as group leaders.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Petrea King Workshop

Hi Kim,

Thanks for posting up this topic. I must say that I am still blown away with attending Petrea's workshop that day.

My thoughts on the day surround things like the relevance of having support groups that allow their members to express what ever it is on their mind. I can see in the facilitator role of any support group, how is vital to have in place a system that allows each member to openly and non-judgementally express themselves.

It was also great for me to meet some local people from my area who are involved in support groups on the Far North Coast. Just a quick note for any of those workshop attendees... please feel free to pass on my details to any young adult support group participants, as I am more than happy to navigate them through any of the young adult support services know of presently.

A BIG thanks to the Cancer Council or organising this wonderful day and bringing the very inspiring Petrea King to the Northern Rivers Area.
